As part of the series of Lenten midweek services, we welcome Rev. Zachary Dillard to Central. Rev. Dillard hails from Easley, S.C. He attended Spartanburg Methodist College, Claflin University (where he joined Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.), and obtained his Master of Divinity from Candler School of Theology at Emory University in Atlanta. Rev. Dillard was appointed to Trenholm Road UMC, Columbia, S.C., as Associate Pastor in 2014 and ordained a Full Elder in the United Methodist Church 2016.
One of Rev. Dillard’s desires is to seek ways to connect the church to the community through outreach, preaching, and teaching. God has also given him a passion for assisting in creating healthy relationships within our communities, beginning with our individual spheres of influence. The Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s quote, “Everybody can be great because anybody can serve,” propels Rev. Dillard’s ministry. Rev. Dillard strives to reach out to both youth and adults alike with the message of hope and opportunities that are alive and well in a relationship with God.
Rev. Dillard has served as pastor of the St. John/Wesley Chapel charge in the Hartsville District since 2017 and also serves as the Convener of Outreach for the South Carolina Conference Connectional Ministries. He and his beautiful wife, Cari, are blessed with two children – a son, Isaiah, and a daughter, Eden.
