Worship
Central offers three unique worship experiences,
each with its own style and setting.
From the traditional feel of our Chapel and Sanctuary services to the relaxed, come-as-you-are vibe of The Well, there’s a place for everyone. We invite you to try them all and see where you feel most at home.
Chapel Service
Sundays | 8:30 AM | Ingram Chapel
The Chapel service is a less formal, traditional service at 8:30 AM on Sunday mornings in the Ingram Chapel. Led by our pastors, the Chapel service includes prayers, the lectionary readings for the day, and a sermon.
The Sanctuary
Sundays | 10:30 AM | Sanctuary
The 10:30 AM Sanctuary worship service incorporates hymns, scripture readings, prayers, faith affirmations, and sermons praising God. Music plays an integral role through the participation of children’s, adult, and handbell choirs. Support for singing is provided by organ, piano, and occasionally other instruments. The Liturgical Year and scripture lessons from the Revised Common Lectionary are observed.
Worship in The Well
Sundays | 10:30 AM | Davis Christian Life Center
Central offers a more casual, come-as-you-are style of service at 10:30 AM on Sunday mornings in the Davis Christian Life Center. This service explores worship through different styles of music, prayer, and settings. Services at The Well are often designed around a particular theme and are much less formal than the traditional services at Central. The Well provides yet another excellent and faithful way to worship God.

Prayer and Holy Communion Service
Wednesdays | 12:00 PM | Ingram Chapel
This service is held each Wednesday in Ingram Chapel (adjacent to the sanctuary) from 12:15 to 12:45 p.m. Led by one of the clergy, these services provide time for contemplation, quiet prayer, intercessory prayer, and Holy Communion. All are welcome.
Advent and Christmas
A Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols
This service tells the story of God's involvement in our lives from creation to the birth of Jesus. It features Central UMC's chancel choir and scripture readings by community leaders.
Christmas Eve Service of Candle Lighting and Holy Communion
Held at 4:00 and 6:00 p.m. in the sanctuary and The Well on Christmas Eve, this is a moving service of music and scripture readings that celebrate the birth of Christ.
Lenten Season
Central hosts various guest speakers and performers each Wednesday of the Lenten season. Other Lenten services include Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, and Good Friday. Each service adds depth of meaning and feeling to these holiest of days in the Christian year. All prepare us for the holiest day of celebration—Easter.
