How could God let the Holocaust happen? Or let a legendarily righteous man be punished just to settle a bet? Questions like these have dogged Jews and Christians for centuries. This is the subject of the book of Job, perhaps the finest piece of literature in the Bible and surely one of the greatest poems of the ancient world. Despite its brilliance, the book of Job remains a tough nut to crack. Can we crack it in six weeks? We’ll give it a try! Join us for this special course which begins with the movie “God on Trial,” based on the book by Elie Wiesel, and ends with … well, you’ll have to sign up to find out how it ends! Currently planned as a Zoom course, we could move to in-person instruction, depending on registration. The study will be led by Tucker Mitchell and there will be roughly 1-2 hours of reading and study per week between classes.
