As part of the series of Lenten midweek services, Central presents soprano Christi Amonson in recital in the sanctuary at 12:30 PM on Wednesday, March 4. Dr. Amonson is an Assistant Professor of Voice and Director of the Opera Initiative at Augusta University. She is an active soprano soloist who has sung with regional opera houses around the country. Dr. Amonson was a winner of the Classical Singer Competition in Philadelphia, the Liederkranz Competition in NYC in addition to being a Metropolitan Opera regional finalist. She will be accompanied by Rosalyn W. Floyd, Professor of Piano, Accompanying, and Music Theory in the Department of Music at Augusta University. A graduate of Talladega College in Alabama, Dr. Floyd holds the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Piano Performance and Pedagogy from the University of South Carolina. Music by Fauré, Mozart, Handel, and Copland will be included in the program.
