Stephen Motte of the Florence County Museum of Art will present a program on artist Edward Gay. Gay was a prolific American landscape painter whose work was significant in transforming American painting at the turn of the century. Edward Gay lived and worked in New York, but his life intersected with local South Carolina history when two of his children married into the Coker family of Hartsville. Gay’s work will be featured in an upcoming exhibit at the Museum.
