Cancer: Now What Study

Please join us Wednesday night in room 173 as we continue our study. Our speaker is Marilyn Reaves, RN, BSN. She is the coordinator of palliative care at McLeod Regional Medical Center. Palliative Care is care given to improve the quality of life of patients who have a serious or life threatening disease, such as cancer. The goal of palliative care is to prevent or treat, as early as possible, the symptoms and side effects of the disease through a team-based approach including physicians, nurses, social workers and chaplains who specialize in this medical field. Mrs. Reaves will also update us on the importance of "Health Care Power of Attorney" and educate us on the proper forms to use. Dr. Bill Hazelwood will speak on his experience as a cancer survivor.
