On Tuesday, September 4, the United Methodist Women will begin meeting in their circles again after enjoying a summer break. There are five circles that meet monthly, striving to develop a creative, supportive fellowship and putting our faith, hope and love into action by supporting global, state and local missions. As United Methodist Women, we are a group of ordinary women in action doing extraordinary things in the world and in our community for women, children and youth. In 2017 we gave $36,279.00 to world, state and local missions. Of that, $29,279.00 went to support missions at Central and in the Florence community. In 2019 we will celebrate the 150th anniversary of Methodist women in mission. It was in 1869 when two women, an educator and a doctor went to India to begin the ministry of serving women and children. It is this legacy that our foremothers passed down through the generations and our prayer is that Central will continue this legacy that will continue for another 150 years. To ensure that this vital ministry of our church continues, we need a group of young women that are willing to start a new generation of ladies working for the continuation of this ministry. If you feel this is a ministry where you can serve, please call the church office for more information. Thank you for your prayerful consideration.
