The Chancel Choir will sing a mix of brand new and time-honored favorites at A Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols at Central United Methodist Church on Sunday, December 16 at 4:00 PM. This beautiful service retells the Christmas story from the Old Testament through the birth of Christ to the visits of the shepherds and magi. The music ranges from bright and rhythmic to serene and reflective. In between the lessons read and the carols sung by the choir, you are invited to heartily participate in the singing of some of your favorite carols including Once in Royal David’s City, Good King Wenceslas, O Little Town of Bethlehem, and Hark! The Herald Angels Sing. Powerful organ accompaniments and soaring descants will enhance your singing! Central invites the community to join us for this service as civic leaders read the scripture passages along with our pastors and lay readers. Come early to enjoy a recital of Christmas organ music at 3:40 PM and stay afterwards for a reception.
