United Methodist Women
Central United Methodist Women are Women United in Service, Fellowship and Spiritual Reflection -- a group of ordinary women doing extraordinary things. We emphasize mission in all that we do. Our activities range from local service to global concerns. At Central, we support our youth, assist with 'JOY Seniors' luncheons, and deliver 'Meals on Wheels'. We support groups in Florence such as House of Hope and the Pee Dee Coalition. The Wallace Family Life Center and Bethlehem Centers are state UMW missions. We also contribute to other ministries throughout the nation and world.
United Methodist Men
Central United Methodist Men meet each month to fellowship, dine, and enjoy informative and/or entertaining programs together. The UMM gather the third Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the Spears Fellowship Hall unless otherwise noted for special events. All men are invited to join and invite a friend to attend as well. Please check the bulletin for the most accurate information. No meetings are held during June, July, and August.
The United Methodist Men present the Annual Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper the night before Ash Wednesday for all to enjoy. Pancakes and various toppings are prepared and served by the UMM amidst Mardi Gras decorations and lively entertainment.
Junior/Senior Group
This group consists of seniors 55 & over. This gathering includes married couples as well as singles who meet monthly for social purposes and Christian fellowship. The current meeting date is the first Thursday of each month when members and friends enjoy a program and dinner together. They also plan day and overnight trips throughout the year. They do not meet during the summer months.
Joy Seniors
This is a group of seniors who meet monthly at various local restaurants for lunch and fellowship. The current meeting date is the forth Monday of each month at 11:30 a.m. They continue to meet throughout the summer months. This group includes members of other churches as well as Central members. Everyone is welcome!
Lunch & Learn
This senior group meets monthly at 11:00 a.m. for programs and a complementary lunch. Residents of the Methodist Manner join us for all gatherings. They meet the third Tuesday of each month in the Spears Fellowship Hall. They do not meet in June, July, or August.
Shepherd's Center of the Pee Dee
The Shepherd’s Center is an inter-faith ministry by and for persons 50 years of age and older. They meet quarterly for six weeks sessions from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Activities include: Adventures in learning, arts & crafts, a book club, exercises, devotions, bridge, AARP safe driving courses, computer classes, fantastic day & overnight trips, and much more!
Support Groups
Central has several ministry areas that reach out to our church family and the community. These groups are our attempt to bring Christians together to share prayer, resources, and advice as we turn to God's Word for support and help in times of stress and crisis. These groups are led by those in our church family who have life experience in these areas.
