I hope you and yours are enjoying these holy days of Christmas. Our church's Christmas celebration will continue this weekend. We will sing more carols and share in the joy of Jesus' birth. We will hear together Luke 2:22-40, how Simeon and Anna saw something in Jesus, even in the earliest days of his life.
With it being New Year's Eve, we will also join together in the traditional Wesleyan Covenant Renewal Service. On January 1, 1775, John Wesley wrote of a covenant service he had been part of, "It was an occasion for a variety of spiritual experiences...I do not know that we ever had a greater blessing. Afterwards many desired to return thanks, either for a sense of pardon, for full salvation, or for a fresh manifestation of his graces."
Not only does the covenant renewal service call me to repent and help me to be grateful for God's mercy, it also helps me recommit to a life in Christ. What better way to start the new year?
Please join us for our one service this Sunday. It will be held at 10:00 a.m. in the sanctuary. It's the right next step in our celebration of Jesus' birth.
