Santahatchie Christmas Mission
If you want to make your Christmas really special, then participate in the Santahatchie Christmas Mission! This amazing ministry began in 2004 when a group of Central members felt the call to serve Jesus Christ by doing home repairs for those who could not afford to have them done otherwise. The Santahatchie Christmas Mission is modeled after the summer mission ministry, Salkehatchie. The day after Christmas, Santahatchie participants make camp in Central’s youth wing and spend the next four days making homes safer, warmer, and dryer.
2016 Santahatchie Christmas Mission Project Application
Our youth have participated in this event since the first year it came to Florence (then known as Christmas in April). With the help of an adult project manager and volunteers, our youth come together one Saturday in April to hammer, paint, saw, rake, clean, etc., at a house in our community.
Salkehatchie Summer Service
Salkehatchie Summer Service is a pioneering servant ministry that takes place in multiple cities in South Carolina. Camps begin on a Saturday and end the following Friday. During the six days participants perform repairs and upgrades that make homes safer, drier and warmer. The registration cost for each camp is $230, but please contact the church office for scholarship information. Camps fill up fast, so go ahead and get your application in. You can find Salkehatchie Camp locations, dates, and applications online at www.salkehatchie.org or email Nate McMurphy. Nate would appreciate it if college students and adult participants would contact him if they plan to participate in a camp this summer as well.
Trick or Treat for Canned Goods
Each year towards the end of October, our youth spread out in groups and walk Florence neighborhoods to collect canned and boxed goods for the Manna House, Whosoever Church andLighthouse Ministries.
