How to Become a Member?
There are two ways persons normally join a United Methodist Church:
- By Profession of Faith. This is the way a person who has never been baptized or joined a Christian church becomes a member. If baptized, but never joined, a person still joins this way, but is not re-baptized.
- If you have membership in another United Methodist Church or a church from a different denomination, you would join by "Transfer of Membership." Our policy is to contact the church where your membership currently resides and ask them to transfer it to us.
We welcome you through a brief service of welcoming as a means to introduce you to the congregation. This also serves as a reminder to the congregation of their commitment to God and you, and gives you the opportunity to profess your commitment to God and Central UMC.
We also encourage participation in our New Member Class, which serves to connect you more deeply with Central's ministries, the United Methodist Church, and your own gifts for Christian service. You do not have to complete this class before joining, but please contact one of the pastors about the next opportunity to be part of a class.
