How do you respond to the question, "What is your calling?"
From time to time, people will come to the ministers frustrated by not knowing their calling. "Maybe I'm not called," they despair.
"Not true," we assure them. We believe God has given his followers spiritual gifts and has uses for those gifts.
Still, it isn't easy to determine exactly what those uses are. Or maybe it's more accurate to say, many times those uses aren't for extraordinary spiritual adventures. Instead, the uses are in some mundane ministry that you might not even think worthy of the term.
For instance, you are called to "do unto others as you would have them do unto you." Well, that may not seem to be an answer to what mission to take on next, unless you realize that the next person you encounter is a person Christ has called you to treat well. All of sudden, as unglamorous as it may be, you're finding your calling: to fulfill Jesus' calling.
Thinking of it this way, the answer to "What is your calling?" becomes much more obvious: to follow Jesus.
