This Sunday during the 11:15 a.m. service, we will confirm thirteen eighth graders into professing membership in our church. As an added, very appropriate bonus, we'll be doing so on Pentecost Sunday.
After the confirmands touch the baptismal water and remember their baptism, Rev. Blackwelder or I will pray the following blessing on them: The Holy Spirit work within you, that having been born through water and the Spirit, you may live as a faithful disciple of Jesus Christ.
Just as we'll pray for the confirmands this Pentecost, we'll celebrate that the Holy Spirit is at work within you, within us.
I want you to think about this present God at work in you. The worship services are designed to help all of us think about the Holy Spirit's active presence on Sunday morning. It's one way the Holy Spirit is at work within us-by drawing us together to honor the Spirit and see where the Spirit moves us next.
You can read the full Pentecost account in preparation (Acts 2) for another powerful Sunday of worship. Let's honor the Third Person of the Trinity together.
