The second statement has our treasure follow our heart. This happens frequently.
My heart is with my family so I end up putting my treasure in their direction. Oh, the junk we have bought because of the love we have for our children.
My heart is often in less important things, too, sometimes less noble. Jesus seems to be saying that my heart got there because my money led the way.
Jesus cares enough to teach us something different. His way is more proactive than reactive; more intentional than responsive. He's helping us consider where we want our heart to be, not just what has our heart at the moment.
Are the places where I put my treasure where I want my heart to be? Where would I like my heart to be more fully engaged?
The Stewardship Committee, staff and pastors have been thinking about Jesus' teaching on treasure lately. I hope you will be thinking about these things Sunday and in the weeks ahead.
We will kick off our Stewardship Campaign this Sunday. We will also celebrate Children's Sabbath this Sunday during the 11:15 service.
The worship leaders are preparing for great services. I hope you'll be at Central to honor God with us.
