Everyone is invited to join in all of Central's fun church-wide activities for all ages!
Central church has an annual picnic for members, friends, and visitors in late spring. We hold the picnic on the grounds of Central's beautiful Camp Sexton located only 7 miles from the church. We begin with a delicious picnic lunch followed by activities for all age groups. Adults enjoy bingo, a cake walk, nature hikes, fishing, and other entertainment options. The children have fun with a large water slide, scavenger hunts, balloon animals, sack races, watermelon eating contests, face painting, and more! Join us for a fun day with good food, friends, and fellowship.
The Spirit of Central is our annual Independence Day celebration which occurs on the Wednesday before July 4th from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. in the Davis Christian Life Center. The evening begins with a wonderful dinner followed by a patriotic celebration including a children's flag parade to "Stars & Stripes." After the tribute to our nation, the children go to the playground for games and treats from the ice cream truck. For the past 6 years, we have been fortunate to have the talented musical group The Plaids entertain us for the rest of the night. The Plaids sing favorite hits from the '50s and '60s era, and their doo-wop brings back fond memories of yesteryear. You can sit back, tap your toes, put your hands together, or even shag to the music. Please contact Linda Segars to RSVP for the Spirit of Central dinner by the Friday preceding the event.
As a final fling of the summer, Central has an ice cream & dessert social from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. in the Davis Christian Life Center. Those who wish to do so may bring a churn of homemade ice cream or their favorite dessert to share. The variety of goodies is fabulous! The Borrowed Time Bluegrass Band has provided us with outstanding entertainment the past several years. There is no charge for this fun family event.
The fall fair is a favorite event held on the beautiful grounds of Camp Sexton the first Sunday in October from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. There are activities and entertainment for all ages including bingo, an inflatable jump castle, a sawdust coin hunt, hayrides, a cotton candy machine, pumpkin painting, carnival games, and much more! Dinner is served at 5:00 p.m. Everyone is welcome! We promise you will be treated to "a fair to remember."
If you like to sing, dance, tell stories, play an instrument, mime, clown, whistle, recite, do gymnastics or cheerleading, we want to hear from you! Almost anything goes at Central's annual talent show. All ages are encouraged to participate in this church-wide event held on a Wednesday evening in the month of February. Contact Linda Segars if you have a talent you would like to share.
Since Central is a large church, we want to provide opportunities to develop new or closer friendships with each other. Our “Mix & Mingle: Dinners for 8” is a fun way to meet and socialize with your fellow church members. Each month or quarter, a group of eight will get together for dinner. The groups will change each time so you are always having new experiences and making new acquaintances. The host will provide the main dish and others will be assigned a side dish to bring. We hope adults of all age groups participate, singles and couples. We will begin a new series in September, so if you are interested, please contact Linda Segars (662-3218).
