Dr. John V. Griffith

Dr. John V. Griffith, a 1969 graduate of Dickinson College, became the 16th president of Presbyterian College on Jan. 1, 1998. Dr. Griffith graduated cum laude from Dickinson College in 1969 with a bachelor’s degree in Religion, receiving the Hoffstatder Award as the most outstanding senior. He later graduated magna cum laude from Harvard University in 1972 with a Master’s of Divinity degree, being named valedictorian and baccalaureate speaker of his class. Dr. Griffith received his Ph.D. degree in Intellectual Development from the University of Syracuse in 1980. Throughout his career, Dr. Griffith has served on numerous committees and councils, including the executive committee of the Association of Presbyterian Colleges and Universities and the Governor’s Advisory Board of Technology and Telecommunications for the State of Arkansas. He is an active board member of the Laurens County Economic Development Corporation and was honored as its 2003 Man of the Year. He and his wife, the former Nancy Shell, are the parents of two sons: Matthew, a graduate of Davidson College, and Chris, a graduate of Dickinson College.

Lenten Lunches
Lenten lunches will be served each Wednesday during the season of Lent at 11:30 a.m. - 12:00 noon and 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. (before and after each midday service). Menus are below.

  • March 10: Chef Salad, Baked Potato Soup, Dinner Roll, Fruit, Cookie, Beverage
  • March 17: Turkey, Bacon, & Swiss on assorted breads, Chips, Pickle Spear, Fruit, Cookie, Beverage
  • March 24: Ham & Cheddar Sandwich, Broccoli Soup, Pasta Salad, Fruit, Pickle Spear, Brownie, Beverage
  • March 31: Choice of Chicken or Tuna Salad Plate, Fruit, Roll, Cookie, Beverage

Lenten Spirituality Center: LabyrinthLenten Spirituality Center
The Lenten Spirituality Center is intended to be a peaceful and reverent space for individuals to engage in a variety of personal spiritual practices such as prayer, meditation, labyrinth walking, and responding to scripture through artistic expression as a way to observe the Lenten season. The Center will contain five self-led stations. Participants can choose which stations and activities to engage in, stay for as long as they like, and are encouraged to visit multiple times.
The Center will be located in the Children’s Assembly Room on the second floor of the education wing and will be open starting on Ash Wednesday:

9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
.. Wednesdays
9:00 a.m. - 7:30 p.m.
.. Fridays
9:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon
.. Sundays
8:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

*Please note, the Children’s Assembly Room (room 269) cannot be used as a cross through to other halls while the Lenten Spirituality Center is open.
