Long-Term Bible Studies

Long-term, small group Bible studies are for everyone, and, while it is a commitment of time, there is nothing you will do in the next year that will help you to fully understand God’s expectations and wishes for you than to spend 24-34 weeks in the study of God’s Word and fellowship with your church family.

Registration for each class is closed. Contact Meg Jiunnies for more information.

Disciple I: Becoming Disciples

Disciple I: Becoming Disciples covers 70% of the Bible over a total of 34 weeks. The extra weeks allow in-depth discussion at a slower, more relaxed pace. The courses in the Disciple programs are designed to build relationships in a small group setting as each person explores the Bible through discussion, reading and sharing. The study gives the Old and New Testaments equal time, emphasizing the wholeness of the Bible as a revelation of God. DISCIPLE draws upon the work of scholars, the personal Bible reading and study of the participant, and dynamic group discussion to aid understanding of the Bible.

Fast Track Disciple I

Disciple Fast Track, an adaptation of the original Disciple Bible Study, provides a viable option for busy people seeking comprehensive engagement over time with the entire biblical text. Fast Track groups meet for a total of 24 weeks, devoting 12 weeks each to the Old Testament and the New Testament. Participants read 3-5 chapters of the Bible daily in preparation for the weekly meetings, which last approximately 75 minutes. A brief, illustrated review video enables participants to recall important facts and ideas; lively and engaging video presenters then offer insights into the current week’s session.

Christian Believer is a 30-week study of traditional Christian writings that views Christian beliefs and practices through the lens of writings, hymns and symbols. This study reveals the meaning behind practices, helping many people experience faith traditions in a new and profound way.

Disciple II: Into the Word, Into the World

Disciple II is a 32 week study emphasizing readings from Genesis and Exodus, Luke and Acts. This study explores how the experiences of life are opportunities for witness and service. Just as all of the Disciple Bible Studies are occasions for developing deep relationships within a small group, Disciple II will be a combination of reading, discussion, and sharing, while focusing on these four books in more detail. It is a natural follow-up to Disciple I study.

Jesus in the Gospels

Perhaps the most intensive study offered this year, Jesus in the Gospels will focus on the important events and teachings from the life of Jesus found in the four Gospels.  This study will also explore the context of the writings from the Gospels.  This study will include some discussion, however the leader will present a good deal of the class information in lecture form, and will prepare additional information from other sources.   It is helpful to have participated in a previous Disciple Bible Study.
