Getting Involved
• United Methodist Men

The mission of the United Methodist Men (UMM) is to assist men to know Jesus Christ, to serve Him, to grow spiritually and seek daily to do his will.   We also seek to foster fun, fellowship and ministry. The Methodist men should be the volunteer corps of Central. Our 2008 goal is to involve more Methodist men in our programs – particularly younger men.

Our United Methodist Men actively participate in our church, and in our community. Some of our main activities include Rebuilding Together (formerly Christmas in April) and Habitat for Humanity, participating in the Men’s Chorus at the annual Talent Show, and helping serve meals at Wednesday night dinners. We also provided and served a meal at the 2007 Santahatchie Youth Mission Week. Our primary fundraiser is selling the Florence Collectors Christmas Ornaments every year. These ornaments are numbered and registered by each artist. If you would like to complete your collection, some previous editions are available for sale year round in the church office.

An exciting new project for the Methodist Men and for Central will be “Shrove Tuesday,” a special festive evening with music and dinner in February before Ash Wednesday. Shrove Tuesday is the celebration and confession of sins before the season of Lent begins.

All men in Central UMC are automatically members of the United Methodist Men. Joining is easy – just come to a meeting and your name will be added to the roster of active members. Meetings are held the 3rd Monday of each month at 7pm in the Spears Fellowship Hall. A meal is served and a program follows. For more information please contact Rufus Hackney (2008 President) at 662-9375 or 615-1703 or RRHackney@yahoo.com.
